About CDA Chess Club
|
The Coeur d Alene Chess Club was formed in July of 2011 by its founder Harold Wetmur. The purpose of the club is to unite all chess players of varying strengths from 8 years and up by providing an environment for players to engage in games for fun as well as non-sanctioned tournaments for fun and sanctioned tournaments for serious players. Players new to the game may join the club and as a registered member will receive free chess instruction by other club members. Several times throughout the year we have various fund raising activities for our members to engage in which help to fund the club and offer prizes to the best fundraisers in the club to reward them for their participation in the events. Registered members will have access to the members only area of the site which will include advanced training materials, club roster, annotated games that members have played, and a place to submit your own feedback including things you would like to see on the site as well as a place to submit interesting chess quizzes to challenge yourself and other members.
Beginners
Beginners will receive instruction in how to play chess and receive instruction in all three phases of the game (openings, middle game strategies, and beginning check mates). Beginner players will be paired with other players of similar or slighlty more advanced strength so that they both have a good opportunity to win matches and gain confidence while advancing their skills.
Intermediate+
If you are an experienced chess player that would like to play other players of equal or greater skill for fun as well as play in sanctioned events to increase your chess player rating then the CDA Chess Club is for you. We use training techniques such as computer chess programs, regular chess matches through several gaming sites, chess annotation and game analyses to improve player skills.
